5  Technical / Mechanical / york compressor head swap on: August 17, 2012, 08:33:45 AM
installed york compressor for air pump  , have heard that the head can be switched so that the discharge line is on the top . my compressor lays flat with intake hose on top now . only seen one video on youtube about this . guy removed dowel pins and switched the head  with the valves  on the comperessor . seem simple enough. has anyone seen or done this before ? want to stop the massive amount of oil it pushes. 1oz for about every minuet of use . i did oil mod on it by ramming a screw in the intake port oiler tube . helped alot but still getting good amount of oil at idle . going to run 2 oil/ water seperators for now . dont want to fill the tank and tires  with oil.
6  Technical / Mechanical / driveshaft angles on: April 20, 2011, 09:05:08 PM
put np205 in fsj. took measurements and got front driveshaft made, no problems. rear shaft is another problem. fsj has off set rear axle . wonder if i could take a newer style front cv style driveshaft ( with ball bearings) from a 4x4 trk of maybe like a grand cherokee or 1/2 ton pickup and have shaft made so that the cv shaft is at the axle and regular joint at t-case. have to do this because of the offset to pass side. or does someone have a dana 44 out of a newer wagoneer with 3.54 gears? any ideas
7  Technical / Suspension / lift shackles on: January 16, 2011, 09:15:52 PM
looking for 2inch lift shackles for a fsj, only set i could find were 1in through bjsoffroad.com. they need to have the bushing in one end similar to a xj shackel, wondering if should buy the 1inch and just make then longer myself? any ideas?

9  Technical / Mechanical / t-case swap on: September 25, 2010, 09:35:17 PM
i have a fsj th400 and a fulltime t-case in now. put a hand me down low - range box in and made a world of difference.i want to make it way simpler than having all of that hanging off my trans . now i was talking to a fellow jeeper and his brother has a cj that was quarda- trac equipped ( same engine 360ci and th400 set up). they took the borg warner out and put in a dana 20 i think.. the fsj did come with dana 20 and th400 combo i believe. i found a 73 commando  3speed  trans and t-case and was wondering if the in put would take the ten spline shaft that i have, it does  stick out of trans a good 7in. to long to just put a dana 20 on?  want to make is simple and be able to run a front locker with the rear i just put in, i was told the fulltime case dont like front and rear lockers they pop chains and is to much for them. any info would great..
10  Technical / Electrical / alternator rebuild on: September 25, 2010, 09:17:49 PM

11  Technical / Suspension / bushing squeek on: September 25, 2010, 09:12:44 PM
put lift in fsj in the spring, got the polly bushings for the shackels and springs. they squeek like crazy now. whats something good to spray on them to shut them up?? wd40 maybe. dont wanta eat up the poly, i did use the poly grease supplied in the lift kit and the shakles are not greaseable ( no fittings). any ideas
12  Technical / Electrical / Re: junkyard welder / dual alternator on: August 07, 2010, 07:44:40 PM
i wanta add a winch in the future what if i add another stock alt. to the system to keep up with the winch? i have a 950ca batt. that would be plenty for regular winch use with a 10k lb pull right ?
13  Technical / Electrical / old wiring on: July 13, 2010, 09:11:46 PM
having issues with the vintage wiring on my 79' cherokee. seems like the lights are searching for a ground , if turn on the 4-ways it makes the seat belt light in dash blink and the back lighting for my aftermarket temp gauge blink but no outside lights blink. i have taken the bulkhead connector ( main harness) from firewall and seen like a brown goo that is in the connector. havant had time to properly clean connector  yet. had the same proplem with a friends cj. any other ideas as to what might be making it do that Huh should it just make all new ground to block and to frame and body?

would love to make it a twin stick ... can you do transmissions then??? i have had them apart but dont have the shop space.i have some  know how. had allison 1000 auto trans apart in college but remember some thats in a medium duty staight trk  . its been 2yrs sence i had one apart.... would you be willing to help tear down and help me? maybe take the 2 th400 i have and make one that will work. the 87' trans was rebuilt 4 yrs ago and wasant driven on road was a dump trk and plow vehicle, i have taken the pan off and it was clean. no chunks or burnt fluild . do you think that the newr 400 guts  would work in the older 400 case?? i will show my ignerance and stop to a tranny shop and ask some questions.. let me know man thanx
