I should have around 10 feet of both 2" and 1 3/4" .250" wall left over and you guys will be the first to know when the engine goes. I listed the axles on here awile back and no one spoke up so I listed them on craigslist and 2 hours later they was gone. The tires were spoken for about 10 minutes after I posted them as well.
17  Technical / Mechanical / Re: no lincon locker on: April 25, 2010, 06:02:23 PM
Any Dana 44 locker will work in your case unless its a trac-loc case. If you have a trac-loc then you need a open carrier to replace yours but if your going thru all the gear setup stuff you would be better off just getting a Detroit by the time your done with buying the install kit for the gears. These show up all the time on ebay and craigslist just search some where other than CNY like PA or NJ.

Got my rear frame section welded together just need to finish its body mounts and weld it in place. Heres a couple pics of rear 4 link welded in and where the rear wheel approx will be.

It sure is! Grin Let's see if I can get some of these pics to load of body mounts and rear frame 4 link cross member. All of this stuff is done and welded on I now am moving on to reworking the rear section of the frame. I'm making that out of 3"x3"x3/16" tube and I think my compound miter saw has about had it with cutting steel. Why don't anyone make one of these for metal that cost somewhat close to a wood version WTF!!!!

Try it and find out hopefully you don't snap a cap or destroy a joint. Remember to look at the shaft at full droop and bump to see it you have clearance issues as well.
22  Technical / Mechanical / Re: driveline on: April 09, 2010, 10:27:31 AM
You cannot run a CV style (Double cardan) unless you can run the single joint neutral with the pinion or transfercase output or in other words the pinion or output shaft centerline must be in the same plane as the driveshaft centerline which will be impossible in your current situation. You would be better off just running a normal driveshaft that way both joints will cancel out each other when running at ride height. If you have enough room and the angle isn't too great then a normal shaft would be the ticket otherwise you need to shorten your trans and transfer or move your rear axle back.
23  Classifieds / Wanted / Re: Tubing bender on: April 05, 2010, 06:16:57 PM
I'll have to look into it further, on another note, I thought some of the guys here had benders or dies for the JD2 or pro-tools 105 benders. I was hoping that maybe one of them would be willing to let me borrow or buy it off them.

Anyone got one they want to part with or that I could use
25  General Category / General / Re: cj fender compatibilities on: February 22, 2010, 06:42:47 AM
The fenders are different but its in the marker light area otherwise they bolt up. Your length gain is in the tub area when you go to the cj7 thats why the steering wheel isn't in your face in a cj7 like it is in the cj5.

You got the tow rig part done now you need to get the trail rig. It don't need to be pritty you can get anything you want as long as its "jeep sized" or in the 85" to 105" WB (wheelbase) with a TW (track width) no greater than 74". FYI a jeep TJ WB is 93" TW is 70". I'll tell you on most trails you will destroy your DD its way tooooo big and most will not be able to pull you out once your stuck. I'm not trying to discurage you but your idea of getting a trail rig is a good one I would hate to see you destroy the purfect tow rig.

I have a TH400 and married 205 combo that would work its out of a 82 chevy k20 that had a 350. I was going to use it for the jeepster but found a Dana 300 that will work better. I can tell you that converting the 1ton 2wd chassis to 4wd is a bolt on thing. We did this to my fathers 1ton dump cause he got sick of getting stuck. We found wrecked 1ton 4x4 for cheap and just unbolted everything we needed and bolted it up to the 2wd chassis. The added bonus was the 454 that comes with the 4wd cause the 2wd 1tons have a 350. I don't know why chevy would put such a small engine in a 1ton truck its like the 4cyl in the jeep WTF were they thinking. BTW I should have your quote today.
